St. Nicolaas goes England

I appreciate and love it so much when friends are coming over to see how I am doing here. Last weekend, Elise came to Eastbourne. We slept in a hotel together near the coast. Although everything in the hotel was fine, every time we started to talk about it, we had to laugh.

The first morning at 7 o’clock we were woken up by the fire alarm. While in shock and sleepy, I tried to put on my trousers but my legs were so shaking that it didn’t really work out. I packed my backpack, did all my important stuff in it and together with Elise, we run down to the lobby. When we arrived downstairs, we weren’t the only one. However, we were the only ones who were there in shock. We looked at each other and questioned ourselves what we were doing to do next. A man came to us and told us that we could go back to bed because a woman just burned her bread in the toaster. My heart was still beating very fast, probably from the adrenaline. We went back to bed, slept for a few hours more and were glad that it wasn’t a “real” fire.

Further, we went to London, which was by the way even more beautiful now than when I was there with Ian, because Christmas is around the corner, still 3 weeks left but okay haha… We also celebrated Sinterklaas, a Dutch tradition which we normally celebrate on the 5th of December. Cause I am a huge fan of kruidnoten, Elise brought a small package for me, besides that, she also had some presents, from her, and my parents. It feels so nice to know that people aren’t forgetting you although you are living somewhere else.

Since I lived/studied in England in 2015-2016 I have a desire to travel around, to visit my International friends and have the feeling of being on an adventure every day. This year has changed me and the way I want to continue to live my life. I have become more aware of my dreams and am trying to follow them every day in order to make the most of my life.
